Instructions & Application FAQs
✅ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Silk Plaster Liquid Wallpaper
❓ About the Product
1. What is liquid wallpaper?
Liquid wallpaper is a decorative wall and ceiling coating made from natural cellulose and textile fibers. It comes as a dry mix that you combine with water and apply with a trowel, like plaster. Once dry, it forms a seamless, soft, and warm surface.
2. How is it better than regular wallpaper?
Unlike traditional wallpaper, it has no seams, doesn't bubble, and hides wall imperfections. It’s easy to apply, doesn’t peel off, and small damages can be fixed locally without redoing the whole wall.
3. What colors and textures are available?
Silk Plaster offers over 150 options — from smooth matte tones to glitter, pearl shine, or marble-like finishes. You can choose soft pastels or bold decorative styles.
4. Can I mix different colors or textures?
Yes, you can blend colors in one batch or apply different areas with different materials. This gives you endless design possibilities. We’re happy to suggest the best combinations.
5. Does it have any smell?
No. The product is completely odorless in both dry and wet form. It’s ideal for homes, children’s rooms, offices, schools, and clinics.
6. Can I use it in bathrooms?
Yes — but the surface must be sealed with a water-resistant lacquer. Without lacquer, moisture may damage the surface.
7. Can it be applied on ceilings?
Absolutely. Liquid wallpaper works great on ceilings, hides uneven spots, and creates a seamless surface. Proper base preparation is important.
8. Will the colors fade over time?
No. The material is UV-resistant and retains its color for many years, even in rooms with strong sunlight.
❓ Lacquers and Maintenance
26. Why apply lacquer on liquid wallpaper?
Lacquer protects the surface from moisture, stains, and dirt. Without it, the coating stays breathable but is vulnerable to water. We recommend lacquer in bathrooms, kitchens, hallways, or high-traffic areas.
27. What types of lacquer do you offer?
We offer two types:
– A light-protection lacquer that lets the wall "breathe" and allows for easy repairs.
– A full waterproof lacquer that creates a durable barrier — ideal for wet zones and frequent cleaning.
28. Can I clean the surface without lacquer?
Not recommended. The untreated surface may absorb water and get damaged. You can gently clean dry dust with a soft brush or vacuum, but avoid moisture.
29. How to maintain liquid wallpaper?
If lacquered — wipe gently with a damp cloth. If not — use only dry cleaning methods. Avoid abrasive tools or strong detergents in both cases.
30. Can I paint over liquid wallpaper?
No. Painting destroys the texture and breathability of the surface. It’s better to remove or reapply fresh material for a new look.

❓ Application
9. What thickness should the layer be?
We recommend 2–3 mm. A thinner layer may show gaps; thicker will increase consumption. Corners and joins may require more material — that’s normal.
10. What tools do I need?
Use a plastic float or rounded-edge trowel. Metal tools are not recommended — they may damage the texture or fibers.
11. Do I need to prime the walls?
Yes, priming is essential. It evens absorption, ensures proper adhesion, and prevents stains. We recommend using our Silk Plaster primer.
12. Can it be applied on uneven walls?
Yes, liquid wallpaper can smooth out any surface visually. Just remove large holes or cracks before application — no need to perfectly level the wall.
13. How long does it take to dry?
Typically 24–48 hours, depending on thickness, temperature, and humidity. Speed up drying by ventilating the space, opening windows, and using water collectors or dehumidifiers.
14. What if I make a mistake?
No problem. Just spray the area with water, soften it, and smooth it again with a trowel. It will blend in perfectly after drying.
15. Does room temperature matter when applying?
You can apply it at any temperature above freezing, but drying will take longer in colder rooms. The material works the same — it just dries slower.
16. Can it be applied to plasterboard (drywall)?
Yes, it’s perfect for plasterboard. Just make sure to fill screw holes and tape over the seams, then apply primer over the entire surface.

❓ Coverage and Consumption
17. How much does one pack cover?
Each pack covers 3–5 m² depending on the collection, wall condition, and your technique. We can help calculate your specific needs.
18. What affects consumption?
Surface texture, wall absorbency, application thickness, and corners all influence how much material you need. Evenness and practice help reduce waste.
19. Why is more material needed in corners?
Internal and external corners require more compression and blending, which increases material use slightly — this is expected and normal.

❓ Other Common Questions
41. Does it smell after application?
No. Even when wet, the product is odorless. After drying, the coating is neutral and safe — suitable for sensitive environments.
42. Is it safe for children’s rooms?
Yes. It’s made from non-toxic, eco-friendly components, and it's soft to the touch. Very popular for nurseries and schools.
43. Is this a natural product?
Yes. It’s based on cellulose, cotton, and natural fillers — no harmful chemicals. Great for allergy-prone people.
44. Can I apply it myself without experience?
Yes. No special skills are required. Just follow our instructions and take your time. We’ll guide you if needed, and you can try it in our store.
45. How do I fix a stain or damage?
Spray water on the area, soften the surface, and smooth it again with a trowel. It will blend in and look like new when dry.
46. Can I reuse old material?
Yes. Dried leftovers can be soaked in water, mixed thoroughly, and applied again. You can also blend colors to create a new design.
47. What to do with leftover dry material?
Let it dry completely and store it in a cardboard box. Do not keep it in a plastic bag — that can cause mold.
48. How long does the dry mix last?
Up to 3 years if stored in a dry, cool place away from strong odors. Unopened bags last longest.
49. How long can I keep the wet mix?
Best used within 24–48 hours. If stored in a cool place, it may last up to a week. However, we recommend using it within 2–3 days for best results.
50. How can I place an order?
You can order on our website, by phone, in-store, via WhatsApp, eBay, or Amazon. We’ll send you an invoice and arrange fast delivery.
